UpNow is a platform for genuine, real-time social interactions. To protect our community, we enforce a strict age policy:

  • Users must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or participate.
  • We do not allow content that encourages minors to engage in dangerous or age-restricted activities.
  • If we learn that a user is under the age of 18, their account will be permanently terminated.

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for behaviors that threaten the safety or well-being of our users:

  • Harassment: No bullying, stalking, toxic behavior, or targeted abuse.
  • Hate Speech: No content that promotes discrimination, hatred, or violence based on race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
  • Inappropriate Content: No sexually explicit material, adult content, or graphic violence.
  • Illegal Activities: Do not use UpNow to coordinate or promote illegal acts or transactions.

3. Safety Features & Moderation

We combine advanced technical solutions with manual oversight to secure our platform:

  • Photo Verification: We integrate Google Cloud Vision AI to check profile pictures, verifying they contain a clear face and appropriate content.
  • Proactive Text Moderation: Our cloud systems scan hangout descriptions instantly to block keywords associated with spam, harassment, or illegal conduct.
  • Reporting System: Users can flag any hangout or individual immediately inside the application. Every report is forwarded to our safety team.

🛡️ Real-World Safety Tips

Meeting people in person should always be guided by common sense. Please keep these guidelines in mind:

  • Meet in Public: Coordinate your first few meetups at well-lit, public locations like cafes, restaurants, or parks.
  • Tell a Friend: Share your location and details about who you are meeting with a trusted friend or family member.
  • Stay in the App: Keep your communication within UpNow's secure chat until you feel completely comfortable sharing private contact details.
  • Trust Your Instincts: If a situation or individual feels uncomfortable, you are not obligated to stay. Leave immediately and report the user in-app.
